Boros Group Members


Eszter Boros (PI)

Eszter Boros obtained her B.S. (2006) and her M.S. (2007) at the University of Zurich and her Ph.D. (2011) from the University of British Columbia. She was a postdoctoral fellow (2011-2015) and later instructor (2015-2017) at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. In August 2017, Eszter joined the Chemistry department at SBU as an assistant professor; she also holds appointments with the departments of Pharmacology and Radiology at Stony Brook Medicine. When not intensely thinking, talking or writing about chemistry, Eszter likes to walk her dog Bubbles and go to the gym.

Grace Ahn (Post-doc)

Grace Ahn received her PhD from Texas A&M University, having worked on synthesis of di(hydroperoxy)alkane adducts of phosphine oxides and their application as oxidants in organic reactions. Prior to moving to Texas, she lived in Vancouver, Canada, where she obtained B.S. in Chemistry at the University of British Columbia. In her free time, Grace likes to go ice-skating, run half-marathons, or catch up on the current round of English Premier League. Go Spurs!

Jaclyn Ashcraft

Jaclyn Ashcraft received her B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Elon University and is thrilled to start her PhD at Stony Brook. Outside of lab, Jaclyn is considered a 'grandma' among her friends as her favorite pastimes include working on her online baby shoe store, decorating her apartment, and watching Food Network.

Apurva Pandey

Apurva Pandey is a first year Ph.D. student. She received her M.S. in Chemistry from University of Delhi, India where she specialized in Inorganic Chemistry. Apurva is a proud Ravenclaw, when not in lab she can be found cooking different foods and collecting Harry Potter merchandise.

Alexia Smith

Alexia Smith is a first year PhD student. She received her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Oregon in 2017, where she researched inorganic synthesis and characterization. When she is not in the lab, Alexia can be found playing with her cat, Pam, and cooking tasty foods. After grad school, she would like to continue work in academia.

Justin Devaraj is an undergraduate biology student at StonyBrook University. He is pursuing a career in medicine and is currently a NYS certified EMT. When he is not in lab, Justin can be found at the gym powerlifting or locked in his room studying for the MCAT.

Gregory Quevedo

Gregory Quevedo is a junior biochemistry major from New York City. In his free time, he can be found rehearsing with the University Orchestra, developing community programs for residents, or catching up on reading. After undergrad, he plans to pursue a career in medicine.

Chloe Savino is a sophomore in the Honors College majoring in Chemistry. She is originally from Long Island, New York. In her free time, Chloe enjoys swimming, skiing, and listening to Broadway soundtracks. She plans on pursuing a career in medicine in the future.
